KEMET's disc capacitors are designed specifically for interference suppression AC line filtering applications

     KEMET's C700 safety grade disk capacitors are designed for interference suppression AC line filtering applications. These capacitors have received internationally recognized safety certifications and are ideal for applications that require keeping potentially destructive or destructive line transients and EMI out of sensitive equipment. They are also an ideal solution when line interference needs to be suppressed at source.

     Safety certified capacitors are classified as X capacitors or Y capacitors. Class X capacitors are primarily used in wire-to-wire (cross-wire) applications. In such applications, there is no shock hazard to the human body if the capacitor fails but could cause a fire. Class Y capacitors are mainly used for line-to-ground (line-by-pass) applications. In such applications, failure of the capacitor may result in an electric shock hazard.

     These safety capacitors meet the pulse test standards outlined in IEC Standard 60384. Devices meet the requirements of subclasses X1 and Y1/Y2 as well as the combustion test requirements outlined in UL Standard 94 V-0.
